upéro in Darmstadt

Even in the Corona period, the place to go for a delicious salad, espresso and Prosecco to take away after a stroll through town (well thought-out packaging - no plastic waste!). Hopefully inside again soon or in a cozy place outside with Mr. Jung and his always friendly team!

A very recommendable cafe. Good atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, good self-prepared dishes, the boss personally present. Corona rules are observed. A good place to go in Darmstadt.

The coffee there is great and not expensive either.

Best salad and quiche in town

We were in Hollywood, Beverly Hills on September 12th, 2020; you can count on egocentric guest selection. But: A lack of respect for the guest calls the concept of hospitality into question. Welcome to the architect of the new gastronomic world in Darmstadt, welcome to the apéro! Described briefly to understand this comment: my wife and I sat at an outside table, ordered and waited. So my wife took her mini-bottle, which you carry around with you on a warm day in the city, and drank the last sip from it to stow it in her pocket. Without introducing himself, a gentleman came up to the table with a certain tone and demanded to leave his place immediately. Later, clearly identified by us on pictures, Steffen Jung, the owner of the apéro. In response to an astonished questioning, this last sip became the occasion for a gastronomy throw away by a couple in their fifties. Even an apology did not change the landlord, he enforced his house rules with public appeal. Whatever Mr Jung needed that day to nourish his ego, it has turned into an embarrassing misstep. In the end just a self-promoter, including offense to the guests; Steffen Jung, self-proclaimed savior of culture, who likes to be described in PR media as an esthete and gastronomy enthusiast. The offensive character of his appearance cannot be denied. Expression of a self-made healing ego world concept. It is not surprising that in his self-portrayals he describes himself, equipment design and selection of drinks, but hospitality is not mentioned. In the end not in Hollywood but only at SCHLEFAZ.

Best salad in Darmstadt. Price-performance top.

Small bar with an interesting menu. Salad with walnuts, grapes and goat cheese and honey au gratin. Meeeega delicious. I can also recommend the aperitif toast. Everything freshly prepared. Nice service. Highly recommended for a delicious lunch snack (even later). Homemade cakes (Billas Catering), partly vegan and or gluten-free. The chocolate cake: yummy. Next time, there will be a cocktail for me. I will let you know how it tasted.

The worst and most arrogant way of dealing with customers you can imagine. I come from Berlin and as a city dweller I'm used to a lot, but I've never seen such unfriendliness before. I hope the other cafes in this small town do a better job. A shame and this in times of corona.

It's OK!

Since I have a baby and go with a stroller it is bad. It's up to the boss, he acted badly to us twice because we had baby strollers with us although the place was empty. So with child (or without) I will not go anymore. I do not need the arrogance and bad mood of the Lord.

The best and most varied salads in Darmstadt, no question. The negative reviews here mainly refer to the boss with a clear message to anyone who does not eat / drink the store, that's never happened to me. On the contrary, I think the waiters for the best in Darmstadt (next to the Café Hess, but has a different target audience)

Nice breakfast!

Relaxed with my husband coffee & cake, I like to be in Apero. The salads are so delicious and with the right wine the good mood is saved. We are always friendly and we feel at ease here. The staff is always very accommodating and the fine kind of boss we like. You can feel it. See you again soon.
